Angle brackets which mount on the sides of the planters are available for construction of a simple bench seat of natural wood. Archatrak’s 48″ long Ipe wood deck tiles offer a quick and easy means of constructing a bench seat. A single tile cut lengthwise can be used to make two bench seats.
If aluminum railings have been selected, a ‘drink rail’ can easily be added to the upper rail. A 3 1/4″ wide adapter plate is screwed to the rail which in turn is screwed to a wood or natural wood composite board (not supplied by Archatrak). Note that this ‘drink rail’ is only available where aluminum railings have been selected.
Small solar deck lights can be inserted into the porcelain pavers or wood tiles to define the edge of the deck at night or simply to enhance the appearance.
With the porcelain pavers, because porcelain is such a hard and dense material, it is necessary to use a diamond tipped hole saw and and ideally install lights with the smallest diameter available, such as these 1 3/8″ diam. dock lights. which have a claimed autonomy of 16-20 hrs. (when fully charged).
Umbrellas to provide protection from sun and rain can be a very useful addition to a Parklet. The ‘Kasa’ solar umbrellas from Archatrak offer the added benefit of four USB ports for charging cell phones and overhead LED lighting for night time illumination. These 9′ diam. commercial quality umbrellas can be easily folded and stored away when not in use.
